Good Water Pressure

check one check two... there's no feeling in my butt or my legs and my left foot is starting to go numb. I must have that online junkie glaze over my eyes. I have been wallowing for the appropriate amount of time. It's time to put down the ice-cream and take a shower. I like showers. Getting chills and warming up as the water runs down my skin and goes exactly where it's suppose to. I like how forces, like gravity and logical deduction, just work automatically without premeditation. My water pressure sucks right now. Good water pressure is when you feel like the dirt is just being blasted off your skin. So. I've done more editing than could be considered healthy. I've been up since 9AM yesterday on pure restlessness, Makers Mark, nicotine and raspberry-chocolate truffle icecream. If I could cut that with actual productivity I would sell it to people too content to write. I would have the hottest swagger ever. I could make millions off of the human condition.

Written Long Ago For Kore

From beyond these steel gates
I see a string of lights that belong
to vacant warehouses and passing cars
They look vaguely like the industrial skyline
of a ghostly city in the distance
Bands of rectangular yellowed glowing
around unnaturally shaped shadows
and angles that cry out to the wind
it's all too predetermined to be of nature.
The lighting is too dismal and the medium too harsh;
No this is a production of man.
I tilt my head in exhaustion
and let my eyes slip
pleasantly out of focus,
Now the lights blur
into a river of swimming fireflies
always and ever beautiful
to shine on in what can be
a very ugly darkness.
Illumination bleeds into the horizon
eternal in her shapelessness.
Light splinters out
And the night is lit like an alter
of roman candles
speeding and streaming out in all directions
All the stars are alive and singing.
Some grow tails
like comets
Others feather out
like plumes from birds of paradise;
Have you ever noticed when you look at something
Stare at it directly
and nothing changes,
But when you direct your focus
to something unrelated
everything is different?

Muaix

i've been up since six am

and drinking since ten.

 the suns going down later

than i expected.

you were there laughing

at your own shadow.

you said it looked like

four and twenty blackbirds.

the ground shook beneath us.

blades of grass,

 colorful scrap metal,

and the warped metallic

echoes of steel strings over electricity.

i felt like i couldn't breath

from time to time

but it wasn't a bad feeling.

it wasn't like having the spins

and feeling the o2

just wasn't hitting my blood.

it was like everything

was temporarily in sync.

my thoughts

the colors

your laughing

rich music

no words binding

or seperating

and my breathing was the one thing

i was trying to control.

it was the only thing

that didn't seem to know it's place

25 days remain before the queer people in Bulgaria proudly take to the streets of Sofia. As you know, they are faced with extreme oppression and death threats after the main LGBTQ organization in Bulgaria announced that a pride march would take place again this year. This is a call for you to support them in their current struggle. Here are some of the ways that you can help:

1. If you are part of an organization, issue a public statement of Solidarity with the Bulgarian LGBTQ community on your website;
*Solidarity statements can also be emailed to sofiagaypride2009@gmail.com or iqsn@riseup.net

2. Contact the Bulgarian consulates. Email them, call them, harass them as much as you want:
· Washington D.C.: office@bulgaria-embassy.org
(202) 387 0174; (202) 299 0273
· New York: consul@consulbulgaria-ny.org
(212) 935 4646
· Chicago: consul@bgconsulchicago.net
(312) 867 1904
· L.A.: bglaconsulate@adelphia.net
(310) 478 6700

3. Contact the Bulgarian President and Prime Minister
· You can copy and paste the letter listed bellow to the following address:
http://www.president.bg/en/contacts.php

Letter To the President:

Dear President Parvanov,
Greetings. I am a concerned citizen
of the world who cares deeply about the tenets of social and economic justice, which
incorporate a world free from discrimination based on race, creed, age, ability,
culture, and most importantly, in terms of this letter, sexual preference and
identity. I am writing regarding the 2009 LGBTQ Pride march in Sofia
out of concern for the safety of its participants.

We in the international community have been paying close attention to the treatment
of the Bulgarian queer community and have been dismayed to see the rampant
homophobia and transphobia that has been actively promoted by prominent media
personalities, nationalist organizations and even Parliament members. This includes
statements by nationalistic groups that stated recently that they would “do anything” to
stop the march. To make matters worse, these attitudes have not only been tolerated but also encouraged by your government. Since the march last year was violently attacked with small explosives and molotov cocktails by various nationalistic groups, this year, “anything” could mean the same, or worse.

Under this current threat to the safety of those wishing to participate in the Pride
March, we as active members of our respective communities not only encourage, but
demand your government to provide a safe space for the March and to adamantly seek out and hold accountable those responsible for any attacks on Bulgarian
citizens/allies who wish to participate in this years festivities.

Queer rights is a human rights issue, and human rights is a world issue. Violations
of human rights will not be tolerated now or ever. The eyes of the world will have
their attention on Bulgaria in hopes that perpetrators of human rights violations
will be held accountable.
Sincerely yours,
