Free Fall

Talons drawn I wait
taken over by a seducing sleep
and her heather grey eyes.
Another lifetime gone but glowing
in the smoldering remains,
and there are unnoticed ashes
drifting into your vodka tonight.
I never saw you as an angel,
and the heavens know I wanted to.
We see what we desire,
shut our eyes tight
and more than willingly free fall
into the clutches of lost causes.
Escalating shadows friendly gesture,
arranging tokens and offerings
deep inside that ethereal music
echoing from this poets ink and scars.
Night is the most loyal lover
despite her demanding nature.
Night by trade is quick to forgive
no matter the misdeeds of my capers.
